Meenakari Rectangle Tray Elephant Design (Multicolour) - 12 Inches x 2 Inches
Product SKU : TLH-72899

Stun your visitors by serving them tea in Meenakari tray. This tray has multicolour paint applied onto a previously heated sheet and heated to ensure longevity. The convenient handles on the tray make it easy to carry anywhere in the house or outside.

The genesis of the art form is said to date back to the reign of Raja Man Singh in the 17th century. At his behest, five master enamellers from Lahore came to Jaipur and began working in his court. With the loss of royal patronage in recent times, cheaper materials have been used since gold, silver and precious stones was enviable. Hence, modern meenakari work uses liquid plastic colours that are cheaper to source and easier to work with. The plastic colour is applied onto a previously embossed metal sheet with the aid of a wooden or aluminium stick. After a colour is applied, the sheet is heated to ensure the colour fuses. Each colour is applied separately so that there is no smudge or blur.
